Write messages, switch models, and set approvals
The composer sits at the bottom of a session. On the left are image, model, and approval pills; on the right, Send or Stop. While a turn runs, sending queues a message. The status bar below summarizes tokens, cost, approval mode, branch, and model.
Send, queue, and stop
Section titled “Send, queue, and stop”Write in the composer and press Enter to send; use Shift+Enter for a new line. Send is disabled when the draft and image list are empty. The first send starts the turn and adds your message plus the agent’s replies, thinking, and tool calls to the timeline.
While the turn runs, Send becomes Queue and the message waits above the composer. Click Stop or press Esc to end the turn. Each queued message can be sent now or removed; Ctrl+S steers the most recent queued message into the current turn.
The status bar accumulates input/output tokens and cost; when a branch is known it appears there, with the cwd on hover.
Switch models and thinking levels
Section titled “Switch models and thinking levels”Click the model pill at the bottom-left of the composer (“provider · model · thinking”) to open a searchable model list. Type a provider or model name to filter, then click an entry to switch; the bottom of the popover holds thinking levels for the current model. Ctrl+M opens the same picker, as does the model name at the right of the status bar.
Models cannot be switched while a turn runs; those entries are disabled until it settles.
Change the approval mode
Section titled “Change the approval mode”Next to the model pill is the approval pill. Open it to choose Supervised / Auto-accept edits / Full, or press Shift+Tab to cycle. A role stores the default for new sessions; changing it in a session applies from the next tool call that needs approval.
Operations waiting for you appear in the approval bar above the composer with Deny / Allow for session / Allow. Pending approvals from other workspaces also raise a banner near the top of the window; “Review and resolve” opens them together. See Approvals.
Images, history, and drafts
Section titled “Images, history, and drafts”Use the image button at the left of the composer or paste with Ctrl+V. PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP are supported; up to 10 images per message, 20 MB each, 50 MB total. Thumbnails appear above the composer and can be removed with the ×; an image-only message is allowed.
With an empty composer or the caret on the first visual line, ↑ recalls the previous sent message; on the last line, ↓ moves forward. Esc returns to your draft. Editing recalled text turns it into a new draft. Drafts are kept per session, so switching away and back preserves them.
