Install and run from source

Use an installer when one is available. If not, run from source. Both follow the same local-data rules, but dev builds keep a separate data directory.

When installers are published, download them from GitHub Releases. If none is available yet, run from source below.

PlatformInstallerUpdates
Windows x64NSIS .exeAuto-update wired up
macOS Intel / Apple Silicon.dmg / .zipAuto-update after signing and notarization; unsigned builds are manual
LinuxAppImageBuild config exists; not in automated releases yet

You need Node.js 22.19.0 or later (22 recommended), pnpm 10.26.2, and Git.

Terminal window
npm install --global [email protected]
git clone https://github.com/LAIJiangFeng/fynvra.git
cd fynvra
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
pnpm dev

The first run needs network access to download dependencies and Electron. Dev builds store data in fynvra-dev under the system app-data directory, separate from release builds. The repo does not need a .env; add model keys in Settings.

  1. You should see the main window with Workspaces on the left, a prompt in the center, and Files / Tasks / Changes on the right.

  2. Press Ctrl+, (⌘+, on macOS), open Model providers, and add an enabled provider. Without one, the new-session model list is empty.

  3. To dispatch into separate Git worktrees, you need a Git repository that already has commits plus a local Git user name and email. Plain folders can also run sessions and dispatch workers, but a worker edits the folder in place and only one task runs there at a time. On Windows, Git for Windows is recommended; if Bash cannot be found, set the local agent shell under Settings → General.

Dev and installed builds keep separate data. FYNVRA_USER_DATA_DIR is honored only in dev mode.
